Man Shot Dead Near OC Home

SANTA ANA, CA — A man was found dead on Friday night in Santa Ana after suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

The man was discovered around 10:25 p.m. in the 1300 block of West Fifth Street, the Santa Ana Police Department said.

Officers responded to a "shots fired" call around 9:27 p.m. when a man was reportedly seen jumping into the backyard of the home on West Fifth Street, police said.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Police are still investigating the motive behind his death.
