Marian Finton, Mother, Great-Grandmother, Remembered Orange

ORANGE, CA — Marian Finton, 87, of Orange, CA, passed away Friday afternoon, August 2, 2019, at St. Joseph's Hospital, while surrounded by family. May she rest in peace; may she rest in love as she enjoys all the glories of Heaven.

She was born May 20, 1932, in Townsend, Montana, the daughter of Bessie and Roland Reynolds. She graduated from Helena (MT) High School in 1950 where she was an active member of the Color Guard for Marching Band, Quill and Scroll Yearbook staff, Nugget Newspaper staff, Square Dancing Club, Junior Prom Committee, Senior Barn Dance Committee, Helena High School's Vigilante Parade, H-Club, Girls' Hi-Y club, and GAA. Marian was a key team member on a championship softball team then went on to be President of the Helena District of the Montana Women's Softball Association through 1955.

Marian married James Fredrick Finton August 26, 1955 following his return home from serving in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. The couple moved to Southern California five years later and except for a brief time in Tucson, AZ this remained her home the rest of her life.

Marian's work outside the home included managing apartments and donut shops. After "retirement", she worked as a caregiver for the elderly, for animals, for her grandchildren, and even her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed long walks, a Starbucks "shorty", and cooking and cleaning wherever and whenever she could.

Marian's family includes her daughter Gail Connel, of the family home, and her son Michael (Jacci) Finton of Valley Center, CA. Grandchildren/great grandchildren: Kristin (Jake) Larsen with Oliver, Ryan Lane with Everett, Daniel (Paige) Lane with Henry and Hondo, Rachel Deskin, Sarah Deskin, Nicole Deskin with Aiden and Ava, Emma Finton, Amme Finton and Ezra Finton, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by James Finton, her parents Roland and Bessie, as well as all her siblings: Dixie Hedrick, James Reynolds, Shirley Kranich, Betty Hansen and Jean Williams.
