Photoshoot Of Newborn Honors Late Mother Killed By DUI Suspect
Viral photos of a newborn that survived a gruesome accident have brought awareness to driving under the influence.
ANAHEIM, CA — A viral Facebook photo of a newborn swaddled in pink fabric, clutching a photo of her late pregnant mother brought awareness to the severity of driving under the influence this month. The baby was delivered by emergency C-section after her mother was killed by a suspected drunk driver on Aug. 11.
Yesenia Aguilar, 23 and her husband James Alvarez were walking on a sidewalk holding hands in Anaheim when police said a woman driving under the influence struck the couple and killed Aguilar, who was eight months pregnant.
Adalyn Rose was born prematurely and in critical condition, but was well on her way to recovery, according to Fox News.

After spending several weeks in the NICU, baby Adalyn was able to go home with her father.
Alvarez created a GoFundMe account for his late wife that has raised more than $119,585 to help pay for funeral expenses and the infant's medical costs.

The photos were shot by Santa Ana photographer Grisel Leyva of X&Y Photography and can be viewed in coverage by Fox News.
Leyva shared the photos of baby Adalyn earlier this month, captioning her post with "DON'T DRIVE UNDER THE INFLUENCE," she wrote repeatedly.
The driver was identified as 40-year-old Courtney Fritz Pandolfi of Garden Grove. She was charged with one felony county of murder, one felony county of driving under the influence of drugs causing injury and one misdemeanor county of driving on a suspended license, Fox News reported.
Pandolfi had previously been convicted of driving under the influence of drugs in 2008, 2015 and 2016, Fox News reported. She pleaded not guilty to murder, according to ABC 7.
