Ramadan Meals To-Go Offered At 2 O.C. Restaurants

Mint Indian Food in Laguna Hills is featuring the pre-dawn Suhur meal, with Khan Saab in Fullerton covering the nightly Iftar feast.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Ramadan, the Muslin holy month, runs this year through May 23, and two Orange County restaurants, Mint Indian Food and Khan Saab Desi Craft Kitchen, have prepped to-go kits for the traditional pre-dawn meal, Suhur, and the nightly feast, Iftar.

From Mint Indian Food, at 25381 Alicia Parkway in Laguna Hills, is the Ramadan Suhur Package, featuring: Halwa; Puri; Chana Masala; Nihari; Qeema Aloo; and Sweet Lassi. The meal is $20 per person and is available for takeout Thursdays through Sundays from midnight to 4 a.m. through the holy month. Orders can be placed at 949-305-1556.

Khan Saab is featuring the evening meal with its Ramadan Iftar Package. Priced at $25 per person, the pack offers: Dates; Vegetable Samosa; Sloppy Khan; Tandoori Chicken; Chicken Biryani; Nihari; Naan; and Double Ka Tudka. The menu is available for takeout by calling 714-853-1081.

Khan Saab, a Desi restaurant with an upscale, halal menu of Pakistani, Indian and Afghan cuisine and helmed by acclaimed Chef Imran Ali Mookhi, opened in February in downtown Fullerton at 229 East Commonwealth Ave.

Due to the COVID-19-related ban on in-house service, the restaurant is offering its regular menu daily for takeout, and also serves free meals to community residents in need each Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Read more on that effort here.

Khan Saab to-go food is available for third-party delivery through Grubhub, Doordash and Postmates. The eatery's doors and phone lines are open each day from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and those who order directly by phone receive a 10-percent discount.

Family-owned Mint, in business since 2015, also has swiveled to adapt to the to-go-only mandates, and offers its regular full menu for takeout or delivery each day from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Orders can be placed by phone or via seamless.com, doordash.com, grubhub.com, postmates.com.
