ANAHEIM, CA — Dining open air is the new normal for those who love going out to eat, and masks are part of the new dress code for arrival and departure. Ruth's Chris Steak House aims to maintain their space as the romantic and celebration destination even amid a pandemic.

In Anaheim and Irvine, the famed Ruth's Chris Steak House has determined a way to bring their upscale dining experience to another level, even though going out to eat feels a bit dystopian these days.

The trick is to create a festive atmosphere, encouraging diners to relax and enjoy upon their arrival to the "pop up" dining experience.

When you arrive at either the Anaheim or Irvine locations, broad white tents, billowy curtains, and white cloth tables make up the backdrop for this new "pop-up dining experience."

Staff members wear masks, and guests are expected to do the same. But fine dining amid a pandemic? Is it possible?

The dramatic backdrop of the experience exudes elegance. Patio heaters ensure you'll stay warm and toasty on chilly Orange County nights.

Things have changed. These days, it is impossible not to notice the impacts of coronavirus when you leave home. The venue has added enhanced safety and precautions, limiting interactions with guests, and encouraging social distance between all. If you are not seated at a table, masks are required as part of the new "dress code."

Still, the favored fare reminds you why you left home in the first place.

"For the comfort of all Guests, tables will be spread throughout the restaurant, providing an enjoyable dining experience at a comfortable distance from your fellow diners," the website states.

The restaurant asks guests to do their part and stay 6 feet apart, and avoid shaking hands and close personal contact with other guests and servers.

One thing that has not changed is the delicious food, served sizzling hot, just the way Ruth liked it.

Wendi Thompson, General Manager of Ruth's Chris Steak House at Anaheim, discussed the changes with Patch.

"These days, anything we can do to provide our guests memorable dining experiences in a safe environment is our main priority, and our pop-up patio dining experience provides a fantastic way to enjoy Ruth's Chris," Thompson says. "Whether you're planning a romantic night out or a milestone celebration – we at Ruth's Chris want to make you feel as comfortable as possible while enjoying world-class cuisine."
