Santa Ana River Brewing Company Toasts First Anniversary Saturday

SANTA ANA, CA —One year ago, when the minds behind Santa Ana River Brewing Company started making beer, one thing was evident: these boys sure do love hops.

"We have more hops than brains!" says owner Mike Miller. Co-owner Geoff Brand couldn't have agreed more, building a stable business and following with IPAs front and center on their tasting menu. Saturday, February 15, from 12 to 9 p.m. (21 and over).

The team has created a lineup for their anniversary party devoted to the mighty IPA. Big, bold, and aromatic hop-forward ales are what this group does best.

Miller discussed the IPA and hop-structured ales.

"Hoppy beers are special to us because that's what started our passion for craft beer," he said." The ways different combinations of hops create unique flavors are magical to us."

For their anniversary weekend, the pair decided upon a few unique IPAs to have on tap. If you come, look for the Hazy Double IPA, West Coast IPA, a refreshing dry-hopped red lager, and a classic Chocolate Stout.

"It's been a long journey for us to reach this point," Brand said. "Surviving the first year is something that we're very proud of." That they are thriving makes it even better.

What is to come in year two?

According to the owners, the Santa Ana River Brewing hopes to expand into a second location by their second anniversary. Expanding will include a new barrel program, aimed at resting big beers they hope to release at their 2nd anniversary in 2021.
