The 90-minute fundraiser hits the airwaves this Saturday, April 17 beginning at 7:30 PM. Program Director level sponsors giving $2,500 each include Citizens Business Bank. James Le and Mark Lee, Premier Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Buena Park, and RDM General Contractors (RDM). Guests will be invited to use their imaginations as the show opens in an interior set depicting an established radio studio in the mid 1920s known for great musical entertainment provided by ‘Lady Lola’ that broadcasts live Saturday evenings from the ‘Lola Lounge’. This evening’s broadcast will be hosted by one of radio’s originals, ‘Melvin Manz Plane’.

During the entertaining evening, we will meet other characters, including supporting actress Claire and her new radio partner, Eugene. The studio production staff will also be seen during the program. The cast includes actor Tony Robinette and music by Diana Drake by Design, performing along with her jazz musicians.

“’Our Story, Your Legacy,” Remastering Lives Since 1976” is an apt theme for our annual event, as we acknowledge our generous donors who have made it possible for us to achieve our mission to help individuals and families escape the depths of domestic violence and exploitation since we were founded in 1976,” WTLC’s Chief Executive Officer Mark Lee said.

RDM will be this year’s HERO (Honor.Empower.Restart.Overcome) honoree. RDM will be feted as an outstanding investor that has championed the cause of survivors and worked tirelessly to ensure their voices are heard by dedicating time, effort, and financial support to address violence in their workplace and/or in their community through the promotion of intervention and prevention methods.

Based in Costa Mesa, RDM has been an investor with WTLC since 2011, beginning with making in-kind donations of backpacks and gift cards to survivors. In 2012, the company co-hosted an event with Mardo Fine Jewelers in Newport Beach and made a year-end donation of $2,500. In 2013, RDM replaced WTLC’s shelter roof and assisted in keeping costs low by underwriting the costs of insurance, contractor’s fees, and some materials. In 2015, RDM began hosting a fundraising golf tournament for WTLC that has raised $177,466.87 since its inception. The company has also been an annual gala sponsor since 2016, donating a total of $8,185 through 2019.

Available for $100 each, virtual passes include an on-air box with a variety of snacks, such as popcorn and candy, plus individual cocktails, WTLC-branded hand wipes and sanitizer, a bell, a clapper and a kazoo. The items will be mailed out ahead of the event.

Auction items include an upscale picnic adventure from Thistles and Pickles with food, rentals and photography for up to six guests; a Journey with Wings local scenic airplane flight tour for three; plus whale watching and harbor cruises for two guests each.
