5 Things: Campfires, Ice Cream and Cheap Gas

Patch's quick take on the essential things to know, the most interesting things to do and best places to be on Wednesday, July 31.

Here's a handful of things to keep in mind for today.

If you have an event you'd like us to consider for Five Things, be sure to add it to the events calendar. We check it often!
    • In case you missed today's top Patch story, police are asking for help in finding a missing girl who recently graduated from Palisades Charter High School. Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Caroline Karimi to contact Det. Alma Mercado of the LAPD's Missing Persons Unit at 1-877-LAPD-24-7.
    • Need to fill the tank? The lowest price for gas in the Pali area is $4.19 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.com. Find it at the Chevron station at 17301 Pacific Coast Highway at Sunset Boulevard.
    • Today's weather forecast should be no shock: It will be a typical SoCal coastal day with patchy fog in the morning that will clear gradually, according to the National Weather Service. The high will be around 72 degrees.
    • On Thursday, spend an evening around the campfire with songs, marshmallow roasting and a nature program at Temescal Gateway Park's Stone Ampitheater, 15601 Sunset Blvd, Pacific Palisades. The program is free, but parking is $7. See more details on the Patch events calendar listing.
    • July was National Ice Cream month. On this last day of the month, we're asking Patchers to share their favorite local go-to place to get their ice cream fix. What's yours?
