PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — Ed Begley Jr., an environmental activist and Emmy-nominated actor, will join the Pacific Palisades Democratic Club and Resilient Palisades next week for a special Earth Day celebration. The Zoom event will start at 6:30 p.m. on April 20.

The meeting will touch on gas-free gardening, ways to reduce food waste, cutting back on plastic cutlery and much more.

The celebration will be free, although a $10 donation is suggested. Senator Ben Allen, who represents the Westside, Hollywood and South Bay communities in the California Senate, will also attend the event.

Begley was nominated for six straight Emmy awards and one Golden Glove for his work on St. Elsewhere, which aired on NBC from 1982-1988. More recently, he appeared in "Pineapple Express" and the "Ghostbusters" 2016 reboot.

The activist also lives in a solar powered house that is certified LEED Platinum, and frequently gets around town on his hybrid electric bicycle, which was often featured on his TV show "Living With Ed." His environmentally conscious ways were also spoofed on an episode of "The Simpsons," when his solar powered car gets stuck on the train tracks during an eclipse.
