Reminder: Enter Now For Palisades Library Assoc. Adult Creative Writing Competition

Calling all Palisadians with a pen and paper! The Pacific Palisades Library Association has announced its first-ever Adult Creative Writing Competition.

Organizers say writers may submit their original literary pieces in the following four categories:

  1. Short Story
  2. Memoir
  3. One-Act Play (set in a library)
  4. Poem

Submissions must meet the following requirements:

  • The piece must not have been published any time prior to competition submission
  • Prose categories must be no longer than three pages
  • Prose categories must use 12 pt. font
  • Prose category submissions must be double-spaced
  • Only one submission is permitted
  • Writer must be a resident of Pacific Palisades
  • Writer must be at least 21 years old

The Pacific Palisades Library Association will accept submissions at the Palisades Branch Library through February 15, 2012. Submissions will be judged by published authors and poets.

The winners will be announced at a reception at the library on March 24, when the winning entries will be read by professional actors.

Prizes in each category are bookstore gift certificates:

  • First Place: $100
  • Second Place: $50
  • Third Place: $25
