According to a press release, Nabel is involved in pro-bono work for Public Counsel and the Alliance for Children's Rights. So, the organization felt Nabel's legal expertise and experience working for children's rights groups would help increase the CASA/LA volunteer base.

"I wanted to join CASA's board because CASA improves the lives of thousands of children who need help," Nabel said in the release. "Who wouldn't want to be a part of an organization that does that?"
