PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — Potentially dangerous ocean conditions are on tap for today in Pacific Palisades, leading the National Weather Service to declare a Beach Hazard through Tuesday evening. NWS said treacherous rip currents will be present, with high tides around 7 feet on Monday and Tuesday morning.

The warning was issued at 4 a.m. Monday, and will be in place through Tuesday evening. NWS expects surf to reach 3 to 6 feet and said minor coastal flooding is possible.

"There is an increased risk of ocean drowning," NWS said in a statement. "Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore. Pooling of sea water is possible around high tide at beach and harbor areas that is uncommon with normal tidal ranges. No significant damage is expected."
