PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — A quarter-acre brush fire broke out in "steep terrain" near a downed power line in the Palisades Sunday night, prompting a response from the Los Angeles Fire Department. The fire started around 10:37 p.m. at 300 N Paseo Miramar, near Sunset Boulevard at the Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine.

The first firefighters to arrive at the scene were able to take care of the blaze, and a knockdown was called at 11 p.m. No injuries or structural damage was reported, although a power outage temporarily knocked at least 600 LADWP customers offline due to the downed power line.

Although the weekend brought strong winds to Los Angeles, Brian Humphrey of LAFD said winds were relatively calm when the fire broke out. It was unsure if the downed power line sparked the fire, as the cause of the fire was under investigation.
