The Draycott Launches GoFundMe To Support Employees

The restaurant asked patrons to donate to help their employees pay the bills without outdoor dining.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — The Draycott has enjoyed two years at the Palisades Village, and they're asking for your help to keep them around longer. The restaurant started a GoFundMe to support their employees, most of whom cannot receive unemployment benefits.

"As much as we are trying to keep a positive outlook for our resilient team members, this hasn't been the happiest of holidays for our industry," the restaurant wrote. "We need your help, especially for our restaurant family."

The restaurant also asked patrons to continue ordering takeout and delivery, and consider purchasing gift certificates for the holiday season. As of December 18, the GoFundMe sat at $2,700, with an initial goal of $20,000.

The Draycott is only the latest restaurant to launch a GoFundMe to support their staff in the absence of a federal relief package. In Sherman Oaks, the owner of Pineapple Hill Saloon & Grill set up a donations hub for her employees, after lashing out at the county for shutting down outdoor dining as coronavirus cases skyrocket.
