Evicted Elderly Woman Can Stay in Los Angeles Apartment
Following a story by Patch, Los Angeles social services became involved and arranged for Natalie Moore, 87, to stay in her home of 40 years.

An 87-year-old Los Angeles woman who was ordered out of her home by Dec. 4 will be allowed to remain there, and city social services is pressuring the landlord to make repairs.
Natalie Moore, 87, has lived at 624 N. Coronado St for 40 years. On Nov. 4, the Los Angeles Housing Department declared the building unsafe for habitation, and issued an order to vacate the building in 30 days.

Her neighbors and friends rallied to help her raise funds for a new security deposit and rent, plus find housing, arranging a plant and bake sale two weeks ago.
Patch ran the story and was contacted by a Los Angeles social services worker, who got to work helping Moore.

According to Anat Louis, Director for the Los Angeles Department of Aging, “Representatives from Housing Authorities were there on Monday.
“They informed Mrs Moore that she will not have to vacate Dec 4, instead she will be able to stay and they are putting the pressure on the apartment owner to fix all the structural issues,” Louis wrote to Patch in an email.
