Fire Damages Pacific Palisades Home, Cause Under Investigation
Firefighters managed to keep the flames from spreading to nearby brush and other houses.
PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — A fire tore through a hillside Pacific Palisades home along Paseo Miramar early Thursday morning, Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The fire was reported around 3:49 a.m., at 766 N Paseo Miramar. Firefighters arrived to find the large, one story home with heavy fire showing, with LAFD's Margaret Stewart saying firefighters were limited in their ability to fully attack all sides of the fire "due to the instability of the structure and hillside location."
Crews continued with a defensive position, and a knockdown was called at 5:32 a.m., nearly two hours after the fire was reported. LAFD said all occupants had left the building and that no injuries were reported, and that they were able to stop the fires from spreading to neighboring houses and brush,

The house itself was left unstable and had partially collapsed in areas, LAFD said. LAFD Urban Search and Rescue and L.A. Department of Building and Safety were on the scene this morning to evaluate the extent of the damage and whether or not the house could be occupied.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, and the total monetary loss wasn't immediately known.
