Genesis Invitational Will Take Place Without Fans

Los Angeles' signature golf tournament will take place at the Riviera Country Club from Feb. 15-21.

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — Organizers of the the Genesis Invitational announced Tuesday the golf tournament will be held without fans. Scheduled to take place from February 15-21, Los Angeles' biggest professional golf tournament will be broadcast on GOLF Channel and CBS.

The Genesis Invitational, formerly known as the Los Angeles Open, will take place at the Riviera Country Club in the Palisades.

"The health and well-being of the community, our players and everyone at the Genesis Invitational remains our top priority," tournament director Mike Antolini said. "Throughout our extensive planning, it became clear that due to the pandemic the best way to ensure the safety for all involved is to hold the tournament without spectators," he said. "We are certainly going to miss the roars of the crowds, but we look forward to welcoming everyone back to Riviera next year."

According to Antolini, activities will be planned to keep fans engaged with the tournament. The family village will switch to a digital format, with activities, challenges, and education resources for kids age 5-12 at genesisinvitational.com.
