More Strong Winds Expected In Pacific Palisades Wednesday
Wind gusts in the Santa Monica mountains peaked above 50 mph on Tuesday.
PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — A day after wind gusts topped 80 mph in parts of Los Angeles County, more strong winds are expected to buffet the county tomorrow. The National Weather Service's Wind Advisory remains in place through Wednesday at 6 p.m., and may be extended as conditions change.
A high surf advisory and a red flag warning were set to expire Tuesday night.
"Northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph," the NWS said. "Gusty winds and reduced visibility from blowing dust will make driving difficult. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result."

Forecasts said the wind speeds topping 90 mph were expected to continue throughout the night in the Warm Springs area. The NWS expects humidity levels to be higher than usual during red flag warnings, but the fierce wind speeds prompted them to issue the warning.
"There will be an increased risk of fire ignitions due to downed trees and powerlines, along with the threat of rapid fire spread and extreme fire behavior, especially considering the very dry fuels in place across Southwest California," according to the NWS.

The county's Office of Emergency Management issued a statement Monday saying the agency will be on "high alert" due to the wind and fire conditions. The agency's director, Kevin McGowan, urged residents to be prepared for dangerous conditions.
"Our emergency response officials are world-class and will stand ready to defend lives and property," he said. "But, we need collaboration from all residents who live in L.A. County to stay safe as a region. We must all do our part by staying informed and being ready to evacuate at a moment's notice, especially if you live in canyon, mountain or foothill communities."
Wednesday is expected to bring moderate temperatures around 71 degrees to Pacific Palisades.
