National Cheeseburger Day, Sukkot, Pali High Football and More

Here are five things to know in Pacific Palisades today.

1. Did you know today is National Cheeseburger Day? There are several theories on how the cheeseburger was founded. One is that Lionel Sternberger is reputed to have invented it in 1926 while working at his father’s Pasadena, California sandwich shop, “The Rite Spot”.  During an experiment, he dropped a slice of American cheese on a sizzling hamburger.

2. The Jewish holiday of Sukkot begins tonight. Go here to learn why people build funny huts and buy strange looking lemons and where to attend services in the Palisades.
