Pacific Palisades Man Dies While Surfing

MALIBU, CA — A 48-year-old man suffered an apparent medical emergency while surfing at Topanga State Beach Thursday night.

Damon Michael Geller, of Pacific Palisades, died while surfing at the beach at about 11 p.m., authorities announced Friday. It appears that he suffered some sort of medical emergency, according to the coroner's office and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

An autopsy was pending to determine Geller's cause of death.
