Palisades Alliance For Seniors To Discuss Dealing With Grief
The meeting will focus on the four stages of grief and aim to help community members cope with painful losses.
PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — It's been a tough year for many, with personal losses that still weigh heavy on the heart. The Palisades Alliance For Seniors plans to tackle such painful topics in their next meeting, discussing natural responses to grief and the best way to cope.
The meeting will feature speaker Joanne Weingarten, Psy.D., who is the Coordinator of Adult Programs at OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center. Weingarten brings over 19 years of clinical experience, ten of which was focused on community mental health, while another five were spent as a supervisor.
"Grief is the single most common experience, yet in our country and in our communities, it is often ignored and overlooked, for any number of reasons," Weingarten said. "OUR HOUSE provides essential grief support for a universal experience that deserves heightened understanding and acceptance."

The meeting will focus on the topic "what is grief?" and review the Worden task model of the grieving process, which identifies four stages: accepting the loss, processing the pain, adjusting to a new reality, and committing to a new life.
Attendees are asked to keep their video cameras on, to add a sense of humanity as potentially sensitive stories are brought to life.
