Palisades Branch Public Library Damaged By Fire

Firefighters were able to save the vast majority of the books inside,

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — Palisades Branch Library was damaged by a fire that broke out early Thursday morning. The fire started at about 7:10 a.m. and was extinguished about an hour later by 28 firefighters.

The fire triggered several sprinklers within the building, and firefighters worked to protect the books from water and smoke damage. The blaze appeared to start in the attic, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

While firefighters saved "nearly all of the books inside," an exact tally of the damage was not immediately known. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
