PACIFIC PALISADES, CA — It's not every day that longtime Palisades couple Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn appear side-by-side in a movie together. But, just in time for the holiday season, the couple of 37 years is headlining the new Netflix holiday film "The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two."

The two will return as Mr. and Mrs. Claus, in a family-friendly flick where Santa Claus must save Christmas from an irritated elf who wants to cancel the holiday forever.

Russell and Hawn also appeared in Netflix' original "The Christmas Chronicles," released in 2018. That time, however, Mrs. Claus merely had a cameo role, while the movie focused on two children trying to catch her white-bearded husband on camera.

It's the first time the couple has headlined a movie together since 1987's Overboard. Then, Hawn played the wealthy heiress Joanna Stayton, who suffers amnesia and is slowly re-introduced to her real life as the husband of humble carpenter Dean Proffitt, played by Russell.

In a lengthy New York Times interview, Russell admitted he didn't think it would take this long for them to co-star in another movie.

"I thought we’d work together much sooner than this, but Goldie and I are pretty choosy. And generally, Goldie Hawn movies and movies that Kurt Russell is in are pretty different things."

The couple began dating in 1983 while shooting Swing Shift. They raised four children together, including actors Kate and Oliver Hudson from Hawn's previous marriage to Bill Hudson.

In 2017, the two sold their longtime house in the Palisades for just under $7 million.
