Barbie came to the Sammy Foundation after a South LA middle school student found her running around his neighborhood. The student brought Barbie to one of his teachers, who is known for rescuing animals. But, the teacher didn't have room for another stray.
The teacher told the Sammy Foundation that when he first saw Barbie, she had a nylon rope tied tightly around her neck. Barbie could barely breathe. So when Barbie arrived at the Sammy Foundation, she was immediately checked by a vet, who said she was in excellent health.

Barbie has been staying at a foster home and her foster family says she is very forgiving and friendly, considering all she has been through.
The staff at the Sammy Foundation says Barbie gets along very well with dogs and cats and that she would make a great playmate for a child.
