"We don’t know happened," said her sister, Chelisa Loftus, in an interview with Patch. "She’s never done anything like this before."

Loftus-Brewer left her vehicle, purse, car keys and all possessions behind before walking away from the center.

"The place was closing and she was told she had to go," said Loftus. "That was the last place she was seen."

Loftus told Patch that her sister had several commitments in San Diego on Monday and Tuesday. Of them, she was supposed to meet with her father.

"I don't know why she was in L.A. when she had these things to do," said Loftus.

Loftus-Brewer practiced law in San Diego and her sister told Patch that she wasn't under any significant amount of stress that she knew of.

Jeremy Snider and Loftus-Brewer studied together at the California Western School of Law in San Diego. In a phone interview with Patch, Snider said that Loftus-Brewer was in Los Angeles delivering tax paperwork to her father who lives in the area.

"I believe her dad helped her purchase the car which was left at the center in the Palisades," Snider wrote in an e-mail to Patch.

Loftus-Brewer's father was going to write the car off for tax purposes.

"Vanessa is into yoga. She's a free spirit, so she could have gone to the (Self Realization Center) for that," said Snider.

Snider told Patch that Loftus-Brewer had given 30-days notice to her apartment manager on Feb. 25.

"(Loftus-Brewer) was packing up all her stuff and putting it in storage and going off for a year, didn't say where," Snider wrote in an e-mail to Patch. "She told me when we spoke last week that she had gotten rid of her couch and when I asked her if she was getting a new one she said not at the present. I didn't really make anything of it at the time."

Loftus-Brewer is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 135 pounds with an athletic build. She has blondish-brown hair and brown eyes. Loftus-Brewer was last seen wearing a long sleeve turquoise shirt and blue jeans.
