Vehicle Strikes Cyclist on PCH Overnight

The victim is in serious condition following the crash at Pacific Coast Highway and Sunset Boulevard.

According to , a car struck a cyclist near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Sunset Boulevard in Pacific Palisades at 11:35 p.m. Thursday.

Craig Thompson, from Fire Station 23, told Patch that LAFD Engine 23 and Rescue 23 responded to the incident, which was in the area between Von's supermarket and the Gladstones parking lot.

The victim, a 50-year-old homeless man, suffered numerous head injuries, as well as injuries to his legs and arms, according to Thompson. The victim was taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where he remains in serious condition.

Firefighters said the car was a later-model Ford Mustang, which suffered severe front-end and windshield damage. The driver remained on the scene to assist police.

Thompson told Patch that PCH was closed as of midnight due to the investigation. The highway appeared to be open early Friday morning.
