Live Like a Gucci: Desert Estate Built by Fashion Heiress Listed for $7.5 Million

Beautiful desert estate hit the market this week. Got an extra $7.5 million to spare?

A Moroccan-style estate built for a British fashion heiress in Mountain Center, midway between Hemet and Palm Desert, has come on the market, a residential brokerage announced this week.

Listed at $7.5 million, Patricia Gucci’s Casa Azzurra is set on 23 acres nestled not far from Joshua Tree National Park. The secluded, gated property has views of the San Jacinto mountains, desert and city lights, according to Aaron Kirman, president of Aaroe Estates, the luxury properties division of John Aaroe Group, and division director Mimi Starrett.

Gucci is the granddaughter of Guccio Gucci, who founded the Italian fashion company bearing his name. Her father, Aldo Gucci, expanded the brand worldwide.

She bought the site as a desert escape in 1993 and replaced its one- bedroom casita with an 11,000-square-foot, 10-bedroom, 10-bathroom main house and two guest houses. The grounds include a pool and spa and tennis court.

Gucci said she and her family lived in the home full-time for several years, with her children attending school in Rancho Mirage.
