Authorities Fight Back Against Catalytic Converter Thefts
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials from the Lomita Station will help locals respond to rising catalytic converter thefts.
LOMITA, CA — The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station will host a catalytic converter “etching” theft prevention event later this month.
"Catalytic converter theft has been increasing throughout Southern California for too long," sheriff's officials said. "This etching event is designed to educate, inform, and help prevent further thefts."
The event will be at Lomita City Hall, 24300 Narbonne Ave., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 24.

Van Lingen Tow and Lomita Public Works will etch vehicle identification numbers onto the vehicle catalytic converters at no charge. It's open to residents in Lomita, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, unincorporated Palos Verdes Peninsula, unincorporated Westfield, unincorporated La Rambla and the unincorporated area of Academy Hill.
