Brush Fire Drill Scheduled In Rancho Palos Verdes

Los Angeles County firefighters will have a wildfire brush drill in Rancho Palos Verdes Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA — Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters will have a brush fire drill at the Portuguese Bend Reserve beginning Wednesday through the end of the week, county officials announced.

Battalion 14 of the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which services the Palos Verdes Peninsula, will be in the lower portion of the trail area between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

County firefighters will coordinate with Torrance and Redondo Beach fire departments to simulate a wildfire scenario beginning at the PepperTree Trailhead located in the Reserve.

"No live fire will be used," officials said.

There may also be periodic landings and take-offs from the helipad at Point Vicente Park and Civic Center in Rancho Palos Verdes.
