High Surf, Wind Advisory In Effect For Palos Verdes Peninsula

A high surf advisory is in effect for the Palos Verdes Peninsula from Tuesday through Wednesday, the National Weather Service reports.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA — The National Weather Service has issued an advisory for high surf and wind for Tuesday through Wednesday at Los Angeles beaches.

Large breaking waves of 6 to 10 feet and dangerous rip currents expected from 3 a.m. Tuesday to 9 p.m. Wednesday, the NWS reports.

"Beachgoers should use caution and be mindful of rip currents and sneaker waves," according to the agency. "Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help."

It's expected to be mostly cloudy Monday night along the Los Angeles Coast, with lows in the 50s to lower 60s and northeast winds from 20 to 30 mph.

Tuesday is expected to be mostly cloudy with highs in the lower to mid-70s and northeast winds from 20 to 30 mph. Locals can expect lows in the 40s to mid-50s Tuesday night, around 60 inland.

The forecast for LA beaches Wednesday is partly cloudy, with highs in the mid-60s to lower 70s. Wednesday night will be partly cloudy with lows in the lower to mid-50s.
