Kid-Friendly Super Hero Run Comes To South Coast Botanic Garden

Grab your super suit and your running shoes, and get ready to dash through the trail and take on villains that are destroying the planet.

PALOS VERDES, CA – Grab your super suit and your running shoes – the South Coast Botanic Garden is hosting a Super Hero Run on May 12 where participants can battle through plant-saving obstacles, fight through physical challenges, and team up to solve Earth-friendly riddles. Kids and adults alike can be a hero for the day as they dash through 2 kilometers of trails and take on villains that are destroying the planet, the press release said.

Can you gather water to flush the baddies down the drain? Will you race to recycle trash? From desert garden to an alpine forest, an adventure awaits at every turn, according to the press release.

“This event will bring people of all ages together for imagination play, with quite a bit of educational content slipped in.” Adrienne Nakashima, CEO, said in a statement. “The Superhero Run will provide actionable tips for sustainable living, but those tips will be delivered in a way that is fun and engaging. The hope is that this experience will really stick with your memory.”

Families are encouraged to dress for the event – capes, masks, tutus and wizards wands – anything goes. The event is presented in partnership with California Water Service, Inc. and Northrop Grumman and proceeds will support education programs of South Coast Botanic Garden, the press release said.

“California Water Service is pleased to help present this entertaining approach to environmental education. Where else can you get water-wise tips for your household while wearing costumes and battling super villains alongside your family?" Angie Gilbride, Regional Community Affairs Specialist, said.
