Linkin Park's Bittersweet 'Carpool Karaoke' Video Released

Linkin Park released the band's "Carpool Karaoke" video filmed days before singer Chester Bennington took his own life.

PALOS VERDES, CA — For Linkin Park fans still reeling from the July death of singer Chester Bennington, the band on Friday released it’s "Carpool Karaoke" segment filmed six days before he died.

The upbeat segment offers a cheerful contrast to the image of the tormented artist who took his own life. It’s a reminder of the happier times as well as complicated nature of an artist who shared with fans his pain and joy in equal measure.

With host Ken Jeong in the passenger seat and bandmates Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn in the backseat, Bennington leads the group on a drive through sunny Los Angeles.

“This is probably the greatest day of my life right now,” declares Bennington after sharing the story behind the origin of his trademark scream.

Gleefully flubbing the words to his own hits including “Numb" and "In the End,” Bennington is game for a series of questions and games devised by Jeong.

The 23-minute Apple Music episode was introduced on the band’s Facebook page with the message: “With the blessing of Chester’s family and his bandmates, we share this episode, and dedicate it to the memory of Chester.”

Bennington hanged himself July 20 at his home in Palos Verdes.
