One Dead, Child Critically Injured In Palos Verdes Crash

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA — One person was killed and a child critically injured in a two-vehicle crash in Palos Verdes Estates Monday, officials said.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to a crash involving multiple vehicles near the area of Palos Verdes Drive West and Via Zumaya about 1:52 p.m. to rescue a person trapped inside a vehicle, county fire officials said.

A child was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Another adult was evaluated at the scene of the crash but declined to be taken to a hospital, fire officials said.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area.

"Please avoid northbound lanes on Palos Verdes Drive West at Via Zumaya due to a traffic collision," officials said. "Emergency responders are on scene."
