Palos Verdes High Names New Baseball Coach

PALOS VERDES, CA — The former assistant coach at Palos Verdes High has been named as the new baseball coach at the school, the Daily Breeze reported.

Derrek Duarte was the assistant under interim coach Murphy Su last season. Duarte is only the second head baseball coach at the school since it reopened in 2002.

Duarte has deep roots in the South Bay. He played baseball at El Segundo High and for Su's at Cal State Dominguez Hill. After his college career, Duarte coached at Beach City Baseball and was the varsity catching and pitching coach at his alma mater, El Segundo.

Duarte then joined Su's coaching staff at Dominguez Hills before reteaming again with him at PV High.
