Palos Verdes Teen Is New TIME Magazine Kid Reporter

The 13-year-old is one of 10 Kid Reporters picked from 300 applicants to be a part of the TIME Magazine program.

PALOS VERDES, CA – A Rancho Palos Verdes teen was chosen to be a TIME Magazine for Kids reporter. Three hundred children applied in a nationwide competition to report on local and national news for TIME for kids and 13-year-old Alana Cho was one of the lucky ten to be accepted into the program.

Cho, who goes to Ridgecrest Intermediate School wants to be a journalist when she grows up, as writing is her passion. She even aspires to publish books before she turns 18, her mom Linda Baek told Patch. She also likes basketball, coding, archery and golfing.

A team of writers and editors judged the entries, narrowing the 300 entries to 20 finalists. The finalists were then asked to interview, research and write another news article, make a video of themselves and write about themselves before the final 10 Kid Reporters were chosen, Baek said.
