Palos Verdes Teen Places Third in Annual Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier Swim

More than 1,200 people participated in the annual race where swimmers swim from Hermose Beach Pier to Manhattan Beach Pier.

PALOS VERDES, CA — An 18-year-old Palos Verdes Peninsula man placed third in the 55th annual Dwight Crum pier-to-pier swim competition this weekend.

Will Abele completed the grueling 2-mile swim in 42 minutes and 20 seconds, behind only second place winner Kevin Fink, 20, of San Pedro and overall winner, Ryan Bullock of Hermosa Beach.

Bullock won the race in 2014 when he finished in 37 minutes and 54 seconds, more than a minute ahead of the second-place finisher.
