Peninsula High School's Athletic Booster Club "A Black & Gold Affaire"

Fundraiser held by Peninsula High School's Athletic Booster Club to raise funds for trainers, facilities and equipment on March 18th, 2017

Palos Verdes Estates, Ca.- March 20, 2017- Peninsula High School’s Athletic Booster Club held its 26th Annual “A Black & Gold Affaire” at the Palos Verdes Golf Club on Saturday, March 18th, 2017. Over $180,000 was raised through the Live, Silent and Online Auctions, 50/50 raffle, wine wheel, Gift from the Heart and generous sponsorships.

Francine Mathiesen, Co-Chair of the event, said, “We are just so fortunate and thankful for the generous parents at Peninsula High. Without their support, we wouldn't be able to maintain our sports venues or have our trainers to keep our athletes safe and competitive in their sport.” The Athletic Booster Club helped pay for the newly resurfaced track, dance floor and tennis courts, baseball bleachers, weight room equipment, trainers and much more throughout the years.

At the VIP pre-event party, Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi presented Principal Mitzi Cress with the Assembly Proclamation acknowledging her distinguished career at Peninsula High School. Kelly Johnson, Peninsula’s first Principal, was a surprise guest and gave a touching tribute to Mrs. Cress about her incredible service throughout the years. She is retiring at the end of the school year and Brent Kuykendall, who was also at the evening’s event, will become Peninsula High School’s third Principal in twenty-six years.
