Real-Time Results: Palos Verdes Voter Turnout

Palos Verdes Estates had 7,726 voters cast their ballots in the Nov. 3 election, according to LA County preliminary election results.

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA — The votes are in for Palos Verdes Estates residents with 7,726 people casting their votes in the 2020 primary election Tuesday, according to preliminary results Wednesday in Los Angeles County.

Palos Verdes Estates had 10,720 registered voters, with many casting their ballots by mail for Congressional district representative, city council, school board and library district, LA County officials reported Wednesday. According to the county, 5,798 Palos Verdes Estates residents voted by mail and a total of 7,726 cast their ballots.

In Rolling Hills, 1,550 voters were registered, with 795 people voting by mail and a total of 1,082 people cast their ballots. And in Rolling Hills Estates, 6,214 voters were registered, with 3,364 voting by mail and 4,422 casting their ballot.

These are the preliminary results early Thursday:

33rd Congressional District: Democratic incumbent Ted Lieu won California's 33rd Congressional District and defeated Republican challenger James P. Bradley, according to AP.

Palos Verdes Estates City Council: James "Jim" Roos is in the lead, with preliminary reporting early Thursday showing 3,398 votes, followed by Dawn Murdock with 3,268 votes and Sanford Davidson with 2,297 votes. Gayne Brenneman has 1,775 votes and Bill Sewell has 1,328 votes. Five total candidates were running for two open seats on the Palos Verdes Estates City Council.

Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District Governing Board: Incumbent Linda Reid is leading early Thursday with 15,568 votes, according to preliminary results, followed by Jeff Frankel with 9,044 votes. Aura Imbarus has 8,639 votes and Joseph Dileva with 8,075 votes. Four total candidates were running for the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District Governing Board. Two seats are open for a four-year term.

Palos Verdes Library Board of Trustees: Palos Verdes Library District Board of Trustees candidate Zoe Unno was leading early Thursday with 15,771 votes, according to preliminary results. Kingston Wong followed with 12,092 votes. Bob Nelson has 5,968 votes and Ray Randall has 5,864 votes.

Rolling Hills City Council: Beatriz Dieringer in the lead with 586 votes, followed by Jeff Pieper with 565 votes and Arun Able Bhumitra with 523 votes.

Rolling Hills Estates City Council: Debby Stegura is leading with 1,679 votes, followed by Frank Zerunyan with 1,580 votes and Velveth Schmitz with 1,568 votes, according to preliminary election results early Thursday. Bridget Carman has 1,021 votes, Bruce Steckel with 997 votes, Timothy Buresh with 936 votes and Jeffrey Romanelli with 875 votes.

Early voting smashed election records in California. More than 4.5 million Californians casting their ballots in the 2020 general election in October.
