RPV Council May Extend Temporary Parking Restriction On Crenshaw
The Rancho Palos Verdes City Council could decide Tuesday on extending a temporary parking restriction on Crenshaw Boulevard.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA — The Rancho Palos Verdes City Council will consider extending the temporary parking restriction on Crenshaw Boulevard, south of Crest Road, during its council meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m.
A temporary parking restriction has been in place along Crenshaw Boulevard south of Crest Road, near the intersection on Park Place, to provide traffic relief to the Del Cerro neighborhood until a larger-scale parking solution is implemented, according to the city.
The temporary parking restriction was adopted by the city council with a resolution for 60 days starting on Sept. 1, 2020. It was extended through Oct. 20, 2020, then Dec. 15, 2020, and March 16, 2021.

"Reasons for the extensions included determining long-term parking and traffic solutions and the intent to leave the temporary parking restriction in place until these solutions could be
implemented," according to the city. "Additionally, there was an unexpected delay involving negotiating some of the ParkMobile contract terms. The current temporary parking restriction expires on May 31, 2021."
If approved Tuesday, the temporary parking restriction could be extended through September 2021.

The city received a proposal for an app-based parking system to manage parking on Crenshaw Boulevard south of Crest Road and on Park Place. The agreement with ParkMobile, the app, was approved in January 2021 and changes were made to the agreement in April 2021.
"The revised timeline for implementing the ParkMobile system is now late June 2021," according to the city.
By July, the first month of implementation, the city will require a reservation to park but will not charge the $10 parking fee.
"This period will allow the City to gain valuable information and data on parking patterns and habits, and it will provide the City one month to work directly with ParkMobile on a public education campaign for the new parking system," city officials said. "The City will begin using both the reservation requirement and charging the parking fee in August 2021."
Extending the temporary parking restrictions will help the city determine whether the traffic relief move helps slow down congestion.
"The City Council may lift the temporary parking restriction early for any reason, including if traffic calming is achieved at an earlier date," city officials said.
