ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, CA — There's an urgent need for blood donations during the coronavirus pandemic and the city of Rolling Hills Estates this month will host a blood drive to help save lives.

"Blood donations have decreased dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic," according to a city news release. "Healthy, eligible donors are urged to come out and give to ensure there’s lifesaving blood on the shelves for those who need it."

The coronavirus pandemic has threatened U.S. blood supply, with many blood drives called off in the wake of the outbreak. In March, 2,700 blood drives were canceled, according to the American Red Cross.
