Terranea Resort Presented Award For Sustainability Efforts
Terranea Resort received an award for innovation at the 12th Annual South Bay Environmental Excellence Development Ceremony.

PALOS VERDES, CA — Terranea Resort was presented an innovation award for its efforts in protecting the valuable coastal resources that define its surroundings in Rancho Palos Verdes, it was announced last week.
The resort was awarded the 2019 SEED Award for Innovation at the 12th Annual South Bay Environmental Excellence Development Ceremony, which took place at the Flight Path Museum in Los Angeles on October 10, the Terranea press release said.
Terranea Resort has a few initiatives that led to the award, including decreasing food and water waste. Terranea enacted a new food waste recycling program, supporting the resort's "20/20/20" goal, a pledge to reduce energy and water usage by 20 percent and send only 20 percent of its total waste to the landfill by the year 2020, the press release said.

The resort donates partially consumed, usable toiletries left in guestrooms to the Midnight Mission in downtown Los Angeles. Terranea also collaborates with Chefs to End Hunger, a non-profit organization that redistributes prepared food that would normally go to waste in hotels, and restaurants to local food agencies serving meals to those in need.
