Michael Mischer Chocolates: Changing With the Seasons
A look at the unique sweets Michael Mischer is serving up during the different seasons at his chocolate shop on Grand Avenue.
When it comes to chocolates and holidays, chocolatier Michael Mischer knows they go hand-in-hand.
For the past nine years, he's been dishing out chocolate confections at his shop located at 3352 Grand Ave.
Each holiday he does something special. For Easter, the shop specializes in chocolate eggs and rabbits.

"People usually shop for less expensive chocolate [during Easter], so we come up with little items," he said.
For $4.50, folks can get two small chocolate rabbits to nibble on.

He currently has 18 different filled chocolates on display at the shop ranging from Kentucky bourbon and root beer to cherry and coconut.
Among them, he said the most popular is the salted caramel. Though he says he makes all his chocolates fresh to order, he usually makes a bit extra of the popular flavor.
"We have a small amount in back in case we run low," he said.
Come summer, he plans to bring bring another popular flavor: dark chocolate with a BBQ-infused filling.
Despite the popularity among other chocolatiers bringing bacon into the mix, Mischer refuses to do so.
"I only make what I like," he said. "I'm not looking for the craziest thing."
