Notes & Words 2013: Celebrating 100 Years of Caring for Children

On Tuesday, March 12, 100 top volunteers for Children's Oakland met at the Fox Theatre to gear up for the hospital's signature annual event: Notes & Words, coming Saturday, May 18. About 2,000 people will rally for a night of live music and readings from top figures in the literary world.
Piedmont’s very own Kelly Corrigan, New York Times best selling author and event organizer, is rolling out quite an exciting line up of talent for this year’s show.

The authors will include pop culture science writer, Mary Roach whose latest book Gulp: The Adventures of the Alimentary Canal will hit the bookstores in April.
Also reading from their latest works will be US Poet Laureate Billy Collins and
debut novelist and television actress Lauren Graham.

Providing the music portion of the evening is G. Love & Special Sauce along with Good Night, Texas and OSA’s a cappella group Vocal Rush.
Tickets which range from $50-$10,000 are on sale now at www.notesandwords.org. All proceeds go to benefit Children’s Hospital and
Research Center Oakland.
