OAKLAND, CA — If you took a flight in or out of Oakland International Airport in September you probably didn't have a lot of elbow room. The latest stats show 1,127,927 passengers flew in September this year, a 4.1 percent increase over last year.

"We are very pleased to see customers continuing to choose Oakland for travel needs into and out of the Bay Area," said Port of Oakland Director of Aviation, Bryant L. Francis. "The popularity of our airport continues to be sustained by Oakland’s outstanding air service and our unmatched convenience and reliability."

Oakland is the fourth busiest airport in California and second busiest in the San Francisco Bay Area. It serves over 13 million travelers each year. Airlines now offer over 60 nonstop destinations, with 7 of the 14 different airlines operating with OAK as their sole gateway into the San Francisco Bay region.
