Oakland Coliseum Authority Leader Given 3-Year Contract Extension

OAKLAND, CA — Scott McKibben, who has headed the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority for two and a half years but had an offer to oversee Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, has been given a three-year extension to remain in Oakland, authority officials said. The contract extension means that McKibben, who was hired in February 2015, will remain as the authority's executive director through 2021.

The authority oversees operations at the Oakland Coliseum complex, where the Oakland Raiders play football and the Oakland Athletics play baseball at the Coliseum and the Golden State Warriors play basketball at the
adjacent Oracle Arena. The site also hosts concerts and other events.

"Scott is an enormous asset to our organization and the public we represent. He is the best leader to help steer us through the next three years," Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley, the authority's chair, said in
a statement. "We are optimistic about the future of our facilities, but we also remain laser-focused on delivering a world-class fan experience across all of our sports and entertainment events today, tomorrow and beyond," Miley said.

Authority officials said that as executive director for the last two and a half years, McKibben has overseen facility upgrades at both the Coliseum and Oracle Arena. McKibben also has helped unlock revenue enhancements and partnered with the facilities management team on the booking of major entertainment
acts and high-profile events, according to the authority.

Oakland City Council president Larry Reid, the authority's vice chairman, said, "We appreciate the wisdom and experience that Scott brings."

Although the Oakland A's recently announced plans to build a new baseball stadium near Laney College that would be close to downtown Oakland, Reid said, "We remain hopeful that we can create a long-term home for the Oakland Athletics at this world-class property" at the Coliseum complex.

"Our East Oakland site is unique in its development opportunities and the ease with which we can create something unique for the A's that does not disrupt a neighborhood or the flow of Bay Area traffic. Scott can help us get there," Reid said.

McKibben said, "I've enjoyed the last three years. We've flawlessly welcomed the biggest entertainers in the world, we've been featured across the globe as hosts for three straight NBA Finals and we've succeeded in growing the fanbase for each of our sports tenants."

He said, "There is a great deal of work in front of us in the next three years and I can't wait to come to work every day."
