Oakland Girl One of Two East Bay Kids to Represent California on Food Network Competition

Watch the pair show off their baking skills in the season two premier.


Bay Area residents were cheering for an Oakland girl and a Danville boy who appeared on the Food Network’s “Kids Baking Championship.” Yahshimabet Sellassie-Hall, 12, and Ryan Wilson, 11, recently participated in the popular baking show, hosted by Valerie Bertinelli and Duff Goldman.

Ten of the best young bakers in the country are vying for an enticing $25,000 prize. According to the Mercury News, Sellassie-Hall submitted a lemon grass raspberry cake during the application process.

“I’ve always been interested in baking. When I was 3, I started helping my grandmother make cookies,” Sellassie-Hall reportedly told the Mercury News.
