The Piedmont High School football season ended Friday night with a 48-21 loss to #2 seed Fortuna High in the second round of NCS (North Coast Section) Division IV play.Â
"We were picked to finish last, and we had a new coaching staff, but we far exceeded expectations," Piedmont's first-year head coach Scott Coats told the Eureka Times=Standard.
"I'm proud of how hard we played this year, and tonight we came across a great team like Fortuna, who played a clean game."
