Piedmont Begins Search For New City Manager

PIEDMONT, CA — At a special meeting Monday night, the Piedmont City Council is expected on begin its search for a new city administrator.

City staff recommends the council hire the Roseville-based Peckham and McKenney Inc. to recruit the successor to Paul Benoit, who in January announced his intention to retire at the end of June.

Benoit, 64, has been Piedmont's top manager for five years.

Also recommended: authorizing spending up to $30,000 for that search, and appointing a subcommittee of Mayor Robert McBain and Vice Mayor Teddy Gray King to work with Peckham and McKenney President Bobbi Peckham during the recruiting process.

Peckham is well-known to city officials, having helped recruit Benoit as well as Fire Chief Bret Black and Recreation Director Sara Lillevand.

Monday night's special council meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Piedmont City Hall, 120 Vista Ave.
