PIEDMONT, CA — Piedmont voters in Tuesday's election appear to have approved two parcel taxes that are expected to generate $13.4 million annually for its schools, according to unofficial election results.
Measures G and H from the Piedmont Unified School District were the only two ballot measures in Alameda County for Tuesday's election and both appear to have gained enough yes votes to pass the two-thirds threshold needed for approval.
Measure G will renew for eight years an existing $2,763 parcel tax that was set to expire, and Measure H imposes a tax of 25 cents per square foot for building improvements for eight years.

Measure G had more than 80 percent support in the initial results published Tuesday night, while Measure H had nearly 73 percent.
District officials say more than a quarter of their budget is funded by the parcel tax, and up to 100 teacher positions would be eliminated along with various academic programs if the measures didn't pass.
