Pouring Rain Causes Highway Flooding, Crashes

The CHP is reporting problems on 880, 580 and 680. In one spot, water is up to four feet deep.

It’s hard to find a Californian who’s willing to complain about the rain. An exception could be made for CHP officers and Caltrans workers contending with the fallout from today’s rain.

Numerous accidents have been reported, some simply spin-outs on the wet roads. Crashes are reported on all East Bay interstates.

In addition, flooding has been reported on local highways. The most serious flooding is in Oakland, at 3601 Telegraph Ave., where three to four feet of water was on the roadway, according to the CHP.
